Pakistan Cricket Team 2026: 3 Big Mistakes We Keep Repeating
After every match we only talk about win or loss. Social media is full of blame and criticism. But have you ever thought why the Pakistan team keeps making the same mistakes in 2026? We have some of the most talented players in the world, but the results are not coming. The reason is simple - we are not fixing our core problems. Today I want to discuss the 3 biggest issues that are holding Pakistan cricket back and what we can do about it.
- Middle Order Problem
The top order plays well, but at number 3, 4, 5 there’s no consistency. One wicket falls and the whole team collapses like a house of cards. In the last 10 ODIs, our middle order average is below 25. This is not acceptable at international level.
Other teams like India and Australia have strong finishers, but we rely only on 1 or 2 players. PCB needs to give young players a proper chance and stick with them for at least 10-15 matches. Dropping players after 2 bad games is not the solution. We need to build a middle order for the future, not just for today.
- Death Bowling
We give away the most runs in the last 5 overs. There’s no practice of yorkers and slower balls. Watch any big match - in the last 10 overs we leak 80-100 runs easily. Until this gets fixed, beating big teams will be tough.
Our bowlers have skill, but they lack a clear death-over plan. Teams target us in the final overs because they know we don’t have variations. We need a dedicated bowling coach for death overs and more practice in pressure situations. Without this, we will keep losing close matches.
- Lack of Fan Support
Stadiums are empty. Players need support. Instead of criticizing on social media, we should motivate them. When the team loses, we trend hashtags against them. When they win, we disappear. This affects player confidence.
Cricket is a game of pressure. If 50,000 fans are cheering, players give 110%. But if stadiums are empty and social media is full of hate, performance drops. We as fans need to support the team in both win and loss. The board also needs to make tickets cheaper so more people can come to stadiums.
Why Other Teams Are Ahead of Us
If we look at India, Australia, and England, they all have one thing in common - clear planning. They invest in their domestic cricket and give players time to settle. A player gets at least 20-30 matches before being judged. In Pakistan, we change the squad after every series. This creates fear in players. They play to save their place instead of playing to win. Until PCB creates a 2-year plan for every player, we will keep struggling.
The Role of Domestic Cricket
Our domestic structure needs to be stronger. Right now, players who perform in PSL get picked directly for the national team. But international cricket is very different from franchise cricket. We need to make the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and other domestic tournaments more competitive. More cameras, more coverage, better pitches. When players come from a tough domestic system, they are ready for international pressure.
What Fans Can Do Right Now
We can’t control selection, but we can control support. Stop trolling players after 1 bad match. Go to stadiums if you can. Watch matches on TV and trend positive hashtags. Players are human too. When they feel the nation is behind them, they play fearlessly. Remember 1992 World Cup - the team was down but the nation believed. That belief made the difference.
Conclusion:
The team doesn’t lack talent, it lacks planning. If these 3 things are fixed, Pakistan can play the 2026 World Cup final. We have bowlers, we have batsmen, we have passion. What we need now is consistency, strategy, and support. Let’s stop blaming and start building.
